New Acquisition: Condiment Cart
I claim that I don’t collect spreader sets that include a display base — only the spreader sets themselves — because the display sets take up too much room to store. But I rarely can pass one by, especially if it’s cute or interesting….
So I found these at a local consignment store, and thought they were just in time for the arrival of summer. They are made by Boston Warehouse, possibly in the early 1990s. The spreaders themselves have a very basic look about them that BW’s later spreaders don’t have.
But the base is pretty cool: Everything that a summer picnic needs: hot dogs, corn, watermelon and a pie for dessert. Plus baseball, tennis and a yellow frisbee peeking out from under the table. The spreader condiments are almost incidental to this idyllic picture.
